Hello,
I am not sure on where to put this so I am putting this in smithing because it has to do with building firearms.

Is there a process that I have to go through to build an 80% receiver? I guess I should ask if its legal to bring them in from the states, where most of them are made? Also, other than verification and registration, are there any legal hoops that I would have to jump through? Do I need to be a licenced gunsmith to do this work, or have a smith do the work for me?
Please let me know

I doubt you can bring them in from the states anymore, possibly with the proper paperwork in order beforehand. But definitely cant order it from ebay and expect to receive it.
I know they are not illegal to possess. You can buy them from DLASK i know. I am not sure of the work involved to finish it, im sure you can do the work yourself if you feel confident in your skills. once it is finished you have 30 days to register it with CFC i believe.

it's been about 3 years since Dlask had 80% 1911 frames. I check with him every week. he has the 80% AR frames. I'm still waiting for him to get more 1911 recievers. if anyone has one that is untouched and wants to sell let me know

I did a search and found no matches. there seems to be a real shortage of 80% frames the last few years. especially 1911 recievers. I should have bought 10 when I had the chance
