Question about 870 in 12" and 3.5" chamber vs longer barrel 3" chamber

I'm looking to get ready for ducks and geese season.

However, i have Remington 870 SPS Super Mag Turkey, 12 Gauge, Surshot Stock, 23" Barrel, 3.5" Chamber.
I want to join a trap and skeet club, the club that i'm eyeing requires minimum 26" preferably 30" barrel.

The only 30" barrel i can find is (24589 Express - Vent Rib 12 30" VT Rem Choke³ ) on http://www.remington.com/pages/support/parts-information/remington-original-factory-barrels-tables.aspx

It is listed as 3" chamber, and i have 3.5"

1. Can i use that barrel on my shotgun?
2. If i can, does that mean i can no longer shoot 3.5" shells while fitted with this barrel?
3. What other things should i consider?
4. Does the note in the table "Supplied with Modified choke tube only." Means it only comes in "modified choke" and i can not swap chokes?

I'd rather not buy a dedicated trap/skeet shotgun, and practice for actual hunting situations.

The size of the shell does not matter, as long as it's 12g you're good to use any barrel. Provided the chamber accepts that size. It sounds like it is interchangable, I would avoid a "fixed choke"

If the barrel says Rem Choke it means it uses the interchangeable Rem Choke tubes. The fact that it also says Modified or whatever just means that's the only tube supplied but you can purchase and install others. Only use shotshells of a length listed on a particular barrel or receiver (whichever is SHORTER). Your SuperMag receiver is capable of 3.5" and has the longer bolt/larger opening, but the compatible shell lengths listed on any given barrel is what the chamber is cut for.

If the barrel only has a 3" chamber, then it would be dangerous, to use ammunition longer than 3", regardless of whether the receiver is 3" or 3-1/2".

Answers
1) yes you can use it on your gun.
2)correct you can NOT use 3.5" shells with a barrel for 3" shells (forcing cone is to short to allow crimp to open properly)
3) consider this most newer shotguns c/w 28" barrels from the factory 30" it commonly used for dedicated skeet and trap guns.
4) the barrel you are looking at will have a rem choke system but the barrel will only come with the modified screw in one. You have to buy the IC an full chokes if you want them.

If you want to practice for hunting at a club buy a barrel closest length to what you will be hunting with and the club will allow you to use. Or better yet buy a hand thrower and some clays, use your current gun and choke. And find a land owner that will allow you to shoot. Better to learn to hit with the exact rig and shot size you'll be hunting with.

P.S. You will not enjoy the recoil from 3.5" shell for shooting clays or waterfowl from a pump gun. 3.5 " are much easier on you in a soft recoiling semi auto. I'd stick to 3" for Geese and 2.75 for ducks. For steel shot shoot mod. Choke unless pass shooting geese then try full.
