Okay I have looked through the search and found articles but none address this issue so here goes.
I bought a marauder kit back around christmas. I finally got the 10/22 to put in it. The 10/22 is about 10 years old.
heres my issue.
My marauder 9-22 mags DO NOT fit into the mag well!
What the heck? i was trying to figure out why. tried my butler creek mags and they work just fine. tried my newer 10 round mags, they also work and fit in fine.
So I am looking on the 9-22 mag and notice that on theback of the mag there is a bump out where the bptton of the mag would meet the outer shell (make sence?) When i am trying ot install the mag this bump out is getting hung up on the front of the triggere group.

I'll try and add pics later.

IS this because my 10/22 is an older version? or has this occured with any other users of the marauder?

Not sure if its the same problem but I had to use a file to remove some material from the back of the magazine. Fits nice and snug now but until I used a file there was no way it would fit in.

I am away from my home computer so cant post any pics.

Dont know if its common or not. I tried two differnt trigger groups (one plastic, one older metal one) both were the same.

I have a very old 10/22, around 15+ years, and had the same issue that you are describing. I also had a hell of a time getting the action into the stock, it took a lot of hammering, filing on the stock and swearing to get it in. I am still left with a gap between the bottom and top of the stock, about 2mm, but everything lines up and functions properly.

I wondered if there was a difference between new 10/22s and older models, I was under the impression they were the same (besides the new plastic parts).

Mine went on to an early '80's 10/22 (all metal), and it was a very tight fit for sure (a block of soft wood & a mallet were required to drive the receiver in). I think the newer 10/22's might fit just a tad looser, as I'm not hearing that they require that much force (if any).

By the way, the very slight gap between the upper & lower receiver is normal, and present on all kit installs from what I've learned - on stainless guns it shows a bit, but on blued guns it's barely noticeable.

Still, my 9/22 mags, although a snug fit in the mag well, fit without force. They don't drop loosely in, though - initially I had to wiggle them in until they clicked. After a few cycles, though, they fit fine. No slop or rattle, either.
