I am trying to do a bit of research on a rifle I purchased this weekend and I am finding conflicting results. I am hoping there are some here that can clear things up for me. I got a large frame Bonehill .22 conversion. I have read that these were made to entice more civilians to get into target shooting as well as being converted for club shooting in then early 1900's but I have also read that some were used as military trainers. Is there any truth to that? If so, how would one know for sure?

Thanks for any help. Now for pictures, because everyone likes pictures.

I have one verry similar ,and my understanding is that they were converted by bonehill for rifle clubs /civilian marksmanship in the early part of the 1900s .Some barrels were relined by parkerfield rifiling and some have actual purpose built 220 lr barrels .My barrel is a 220 lr and 31" long and pretty well the same configureation as the one pictired and has a peep sight behind the receiver
