Hey all,

I was just looking into making a custom 10/22. First off I would just be using it for target practice and hunting mostly. 2nd off, Do I actually have to buy one if I want to put a new barrel, stock on it? Like I mean, can't I buy the action from one of these places that sell custom stuff for the 10/22 and then throw a barrel on it, and a stock and be good to go?

If this is not the case, maybe somebody could explain it to me.

Thanks all for your help

Unless you find a reciever with a trigger group and bolt in the EE forums, then its preatty much impossible to get just the reciever here in Canada. There are some sold in the states, such as the VQ reciever, but it is sold just as the reciever and does not include the trigger group or bolt. Not to mention that it costs about as much as a 10/22, and then you have to buy the rest.

IMO you would be much better off just buying a 10/22, and then taking off the stock and barrel. You can sell them for a bit of money too.

+1. Since you are planning to do upgrades, if you could find a used 10/22 at your local gunshop that would save you some $$ as well. If this is the avenue you are going to take, just make sure the receiver and bolt are in good shape.

Good luck

buy the cheapest new one you can find and rip, tear, pull hair...discard that stuff, aftermarket bbl, stock, action tuning n'so on...
you will be looking at $1500 without much trouble, then add glass.
check out Rimfirecentral.com these guys are fanatics about 10-22's
