I have a Crossman backpacker model 2289g. Just curious since I've found very little information online, is it worth anything or is it rare? I've applied for the exchange forum so if I find some information on it I will probably list it for sale.

Sorry if this thread breaks the rules but I was just wondering information on the model.

Should be lots of info on line.I just had one re-built to it's potential for a semi silent grouse gun.Canada in all it's wisdom deems this a pistol because of the detachable stock so the under 500fps rules apply like it or not you can't convince them it's a carbine. The Canadian valves were drilled as so to make it impossible to best 500fps no matter how much you pump it.Most ran a lethargic 400fps + or - .Folks plugged bleedholes and swapped out to flat topped pistons along with playing with differing barrel lengths to increase velocity to just under the legal limit. They are unaffected by cold weather like CO2 so that's a plus....fine for small game hunting but for recreational plinking the pumping gets old fast.Value about $75 in VG shape perhaps a wee bit more.Replacing the cheap plastic breech with a steel one allows solid scoping and base to properly anchor the barrel to increase accuracy. They came with a 14" barrel at the time and green plastic stock.Hope that helps somewhat.Customizing can turn into a money pit real quick.
