Question about flying

I have a noob question here. I was making a trip into Edmonton, and while there I was going to head out to the handgun range. I am worried about airport security on my flight home. I was planning to go to the range in the early afternoon, and my flight home is later that day. I will probably go from the range to maybe eat, then the airport. Does anyone know if I will have any issues at the airport? I was worried I might have some gun powder residue on me, and that would set off some alarms. :)

Any input is welcome.

Thanks

the worst they will do is have a second look at you and your carry-on.

Its not illegal to have powder residue on your person and get on a commercial flight

Won’t be any issues – got on a plane once right from the barren lands. Winter storm made for tough sledding back to town. We’d been shooting lots and nothing picked it up.

Ok thanks for the info guys. I was worried and going to change my plans because I want to be able to get back home. :)

I'll just make sure I am at the airport a little early so in case the security screening is slow.

I just got back from a trip to Illinois, and while I was there I went to the range with my friends. I shot over 1000 rounds personally(Walmart ammo is so cheap...), and was returning to Calgary the next day via Chicago Ohare.

I only had one hoodie on my trip, so I wore that to the range and without thinking wore the hoodie on my return flight. Upon going through the "Sniffer" at O'hare security, I was pulled into the secondary inspection room for a much more thorough search. They pulled my checked luggage, and searched that in front of me along with my carry-on and a more physical search of my person (Thank god they didnt make me strip...)

It was seriously inconvenient and took almost 2 hours. I was lucky that I checked in 2.5 hours before my flight...

My suggestion would be to NOT wear any of the same clothes you go to the range with, and make sure you wash your hands and face well after your done shooting.

I always tell them that I am a target shooting competitor and I might very well show positive on their tests. So far, no problems.
