Hi Folks:

I've had my PAL for quite some time and am now interested in getting my hunting license. I've found a few people that are able to offer my the hunting portion of the course only (since I already have the PAL don't want to pay to take that course again). However, on the MNR website it says that when applying for a license to hunt with a firearm, the applicant needs to provide proof of passing the Canadian firearms safety course. Will a scan of the front and back of my PAL suffice? Or do I need to try and dig up the paperwork from when I did the course?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I believe your "scan" will suffice. as for places that offer the course, there is Rouge River Arms in aurora and the wolfs den in utopia/barrie. both places should let you do just the hunting portion.

good luck

I did the same thing...the service ontario office where I went to get my outdoors card just took a scan of my PAL and that was it. Don't worry, you don't need to dig out your course paperwork!

As for people who offer just the hunters ed portion, just email one of the instructors in your area. The course I signed up for was a PAL/hunters ed combo course, but I just told them I only need the hunters ed...they gave me a reduced price and I didn't have to be there during the firearms learning.

Some instructors want proof that you actually did the Course, not just your PAL. When you're checking around for Hunter Ed. Courses, make sure you ask that question.
