Question about Glock 17 Gen 4 IPSC Spring Issue

Unfortunately an uncommon gun these days in IPSC, which explains the lack of answers for you. I'd try asking on some of the USPSA sites and see what they can tell you.

G17 Glock (Gen 4) which main spring should I be using for IPSC for easy cycling of the gun? Finding spring that im using is way too heavy. Any tips and tricks would be appreciated.

So I run a gen 3 ISMI guide rod with an adapter.
Black Box customs has the Zev adapter in stock and I believe black leaf industries has the stainless ISMI gen 3 spring and guide rod.

Otherwise, adapter and OEM gen 3 spring, in stock at FOC Canada.

Standard build for all the agency arms shop builds. Good news is the same setup will serve you in a gen 5 if you later move up.

You need a Recoil Assembly Adapter Ring for Gen 4 Glock so you can use a Gen 3 guide rod assembly.
They have 11lbs 13lbs 15lbs. If I remember right 17lbs is stock
Are you reloading or factor ammo.
You will have to try different spring weights with different ammo.
When I was running fluffy bunny ammo that just made PF I used a 13lbs spring.
Sold all my Gen 4 Glocks. Gen 4 triggers are garbage.

I use a 13 lb spring with blazer brass. Due to the relatively light slide on the glock, you can't get a very light spring for easy racking.

A caution - under IPSC Production (or PO) division rules - while it's perfectly legal to change springs (weight or brand) in that Glock - it is not legal to get an aftermarket guide rod or other aftermarket parts in that area (recoil system) of the gun. Keep this in mind while making a decision.

While some people claim to have fun shooting their Glock in Open division, most who find out at the match that they've been moved to Open - don't.
