HI. I have a Tasco Varmint 6X24X42

My mildot reticle is synchronized at 8X. 1 mil = 3.44 moa

If i set the magnification at 24X, should i multiply by 2.5 to find the value of 1mil?

1 mil (3,44 moa) X 2.5 = 8,6 MOA

Thanks

Should it not be 3x?

Your scope is a SFP and you say your scope's reticle is synced to show one mil when set to 8x.

1 mil on 8x = 3 mils on 24x

On 24x, one mil graduation in your reticle would be equal to 3.44x3, or 10.32 inches at 100 yards.

24 power is 3 times 8 power.

Are you referring to ranging with the mildot system or are you talking about something different? Are you referring to using a mil reticle with moa turret clicks and trying to sync them using math?

Multiply by 3. You multiply by same amount you multiply magnification.
8X * 3 = 24X
3.4377 MOA * 3 = 10.313 MOA

Not sure where your 2.5 comes from.

He might be trying to convert 1/4" clicks to mils since it's a mil/moa scope. If that's the case, he'll have to use conversions.
