Hi,

I'm about to get a +2 ext for my semi shotgun. Just wondering how you guys plug your extension to make sure you stay with a 5 capacity.

Thank you!

Made one yesterday.............yup, wooden dowel as woodlotowner mentioned.
It makes thunkie noises when the barrel gets tipped up or down.
Uncle Mike's makes a plastic one with a head on it to stop the thunkienest.

I'm thinking he's not asking about how to plug it for hunting use. The Criminal Code has an explanation of what is an acceptable modification to the case of the magazine (CC wording) so that it complies with Canadian law (look in Section 84). I highly recommend you get your advice from the CC so you KNOW you're on solid ground. There are a bunch of very knowledgeable people here on Gunnutz, but there's even more that don't have a clue as to the actual laws!!!!!

Exact, i'm thinking about a definitive plug that would strickly respects the 5 rounds capacity as mentionned in the Criminal Code.

There is more and more 3gunners here and i'm pretty sure some of us have plugged there long extension.

Might get more logical answers in the black and green shotgun forum. This one is full of duck hunters who tremble at the thought of a semi auto shotgun that holds more than 3 rounds.

If you fit only five shells of the maximum your receiver is stamped for (5x3, or 5x3.5), you don't plug it. If it fits more than five max size, you don't add the extension.

Actually this is the hunting and sporting shotgun forum where people don't need more than three rounds in a shotgun, because we can hit what we shoot at, and we don't have to resort to the spray and pray mentality.:p

OK, I'm confused here. You only need to worry about 5 for a SEMI AUTO, which the OP has.

Virtually all semi-auto shotguns come as 4+1 from the factory, and you put in a 2 shell plug to drop to 2+1 for waterfowl use (or any hunting in Ontario).

Why on earth would you install a +2 extension on a semi in Canada? It just adds weight and serves no purpose other than aesthetics.

My opinion? Install the OEM mag cap and sell the extension to someone with a pump action who will actually benefit from it.

Nah, only limited to 3 rounds because of international treaties signed by governments to save birds. Now they are scrambling to control snow geese numbers by increasing seasons, and bag limits. Maybe a semi auto punt gun season for a year would help?

I would like a +1, but here in Canada I can only find +2... So i'm thinking about getting this one and built a definitive plug to reduce to +1. Most Benellies are 3+1 but they are so nice to shoot for informal clays shooting sessions. Semies with max legal capacity are quite fun. Extension will be removed just before ducks season.

You will need to do something permanent. A big arse gob of jb weld on a hunk of metal or something along those lines. This has been done before, I remember seeing a thread about this not that long ago...2 months maybe?
