Question about Receivers

Hey guys. This may be a dumb question but I am under the impression that the shotgun receiver is everything that is not the stock and barrel. The reason I ask is, if I were to build a 870, could I order the part

From the Remington parts catalog, then buy whatever barrel, stock, fore end, and it's good? What about the magazine tube?

Or is the receiver something else.

Look for the 46 on the middle left portion. That is the receiver, the stock, barrel, mag tube, trigger, and all that other stuff is just accessories to attach to the receiver.

I'm not familiar with the Remington parts catalogue, but you should be able to clarify with whoever you're buying from if it's a stripped receiver, or a complete receiver.
