I know that with some shotguns if you keep holding the trigger after the first shot and continue to slide the action the gun will keep on shooting. I was wondering if this can be done with a Remington 870. I'm afraid of wrecking something if I try.
The 870 will not fire again if you hold the trigger while you pump it. I tried it on mine with a snap cap and nothing happens. The trigger has to be released before the gun will fire again. However, the winchester model 97 will fire again if you hold the trigger and pump. This feature was taken advantage of by soldiers in WW1 when they were "Trench Sweeping".
I used to shoot an 870 along with my brother who had a Win mod 12 and my dad who had a Rem 1100. At 17 I could get off my rounds faster than either and was as or more accurate as well. You are talking about tenths of a second here. What does it matter? Whatever is coming is still going to be as dead and pretty much as fast.
