The tactical versions with the heavy bbl, usually have an internal magazine. Is it possible to remove that and have a detachable box magazine?

Absolutely. There's lots of conversion kits available from the super cheap "Kwik Klip" to HS Precision (if they still make them), and the popular CDI units. Lots of others too. It's not hard finding companies who make them.

No issues finding suppliers here on the board either. They're a common modification.

Mystic Precision carries the CDI line of bottom metals.

Or, ATRS has their own brand bottom metal, as well as the HS Precision model.

Or, if you're not feeling traditional there are chassis options such as the MDT TAC-21 and LSS that replace the traditional stock and allow you to use AR buttstocks and grips as well as AICS magazines.

I myself have the MDT LSS chassis on my Rem700 AAC-SD. It's quite nice.

Yes and no. Some box mag systems are drop in kits where others require some in-letting of your stock. For instance, Accurate Action sells the Kwik Klip box mag kit for long and short actions, this kit is a drop-in, the drawback from what I've seen is that their mags are single stacked making their 10 round mags long and difficult to deal with on the bench. Whereas Badger Ordnance sells a box mag kit that requires in-letting, this kit however is also one of the best on the market and their mags are double stacked. Double stacking makes the mags much shorter and easier to deal with with regards to bench shooting. The Badger Ordnance kit will also allow the use of Accuracy International mags.

Another great option is the new promag archangel stock. Comes will all the bells and whistles you would possibly want in a stock that is priced not much off buying DBM and a mag.

I am working on putting a rifle together with this stock and really impressed with all of its features minus that include bipod.

At least the bipod can be used when taking pics :)

If you want to put in DBM with the factory BDL inletting, assume that some inletting and fitting is required.
