Question about rings for CASM

Hello all, I was just wondering what rings people have been using on their CASM mounts? My eyes are absolutely garbage, I can hardly make out a 12 inch target at 50 yards with the irons so I've decided to go ahead and scope my M305, and have decided on the CASM mount. I've been doing some research and I've seen some people say not to use steel rings with an aluminum mount, but where the CASM is 7075 do I really need to worry? It's just going to be a range/hunting rifle, it's not like it's going to be beat up. I'm also leaning towards a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 for a scope, I have one on my .30-06 with no complaints (other then a gunsmith mounting the front base right over the ejection port so the rifle won't cycle at all, effective neutered it to a single shot. But we won't go there hahaha...)

Anyone have any other suggestions for rings or similarly priced glass? I don't have a very large budget right now, minimum wage isn't very much even at 40hrs/week.

Thanks all in advance!

I suggest that you finalize your scope before choosing rings since the size of the scope's bell will to some extent dictate the height of rings that you need. I use the CASM Al rail with a 40mm scope and am very happy with my medium Leupold rings although clearances between the scope bell and the CASM are quite tight. You will likely need a cheek rest to get a good cheek weld.

Don't worry about steel rings on an aluminum rail. As long as they are good rings. For ring height get the lowest ones you can get while still mounting the scope in the right place front to rear. The casm is already pretty tall.

I am using aluminum CASM with aluminum TPS rings. I am shooting with a Leupy Mk 4 LR/T which is more than your budget but the rings should work similarly with your setup. I believe TPS still makes 1" rings. They are very good and inexpensive.
