where do i check serial numbers to see if a gun is antique or not?
Is there a book? I heard of Flaymans... Should i buy that?
Could i call the CFC and ask them to check up serial numbers for me?
And how do these letters of antique status from teh CFC work?

The techs in Ottawa MIGHT have information that a particular firearm is antique. Call the general number and ask to be connected. There are all sorts of references for different guns. You might or might not be able to find out about a specific one. The letter is evidence that, in the opinion of the CFC, the firearm is an antique. Might avoid arguments. Keep in mind that for some makes and modls it is just about impossible to determine year of manufacture, and this can be important if the firearm was in contiuous production through 1897-98 -99.

ahh okie.... Just making sure.
Luckily the one im going for is a very common and popular collectable. Teh remington derringer 41RF.

These were made with variations in markings. Some are definitely antique, others are modern, and some are very difficult to categorize. Keep in mind that Remington put these into production in the 1860s, and was still selling them in the early '30s.
