hi folks, just aquired a new brush gun, a sporterized enfield in 303, in fantastic shape... wood has been worked over and is perfect, metal is perfect lots of life yet in the barrel. anyways took it out to plink a few rounds today and was shooting a stupm at about 70-75 yards and using the stock peep it was shooting 12" high, but i was able to correct that when i tipped back the sight and use the 'adjustable' peep sight (where the hole is a little smaller) anyways dosn't look like i can adjust the elevation on the rear peep at all, or the front for that matter. i would like to be able to get is zero'd in at 100 yrds or so... anyways if anyone has any insight i would greatly appretiate it

Please Post a Picture of It EH

As above, IF you can post a picture it would help as it is unclear to me how high the "sporterized front sight" is. Would like to determine IF original is still in place or IF barrel length is still "stock".

k will try to post tomorrow at work, other than the chopped down stiock everything else appears to be stock, just measured still has the 22" barrel

Odd, my #4 mk2 has a 23 3/4" barrel. It was a contract rifle made by savage. I'm not that great with the iron sights so am in the process of making my own scope mount, really not impressed with the commercial units. Good luck you have a great gun.

Check the headspace before you do any more shooting. Thousands of bubba'd No. 4's have been assembled with bad headspace. There is no elevation adjustment for the battle peep. Elevation was adjusted by changing the front sight. When you've checked the headspace, shoot off a bench at 100 for group only and see where it shoots. If it won't shoot a reasonable group(3" or so is ok) there's no point doing anything to the sights. Being sure the headspace is ok is far more important though. You can buy the guages and do it yourself, but they run $25 to $30 US each and you need two. The No-Go and the Field. Or take it to a smithy.

thanks for the imput

just got back from the range, played around with it a little bit more i would swing it by a gunsmith but there are none around kenora ontario that i know of

anyways shoots decent groups, was getting about 3" at 100 yards, although either the battle peep or the tip up (screwed all the way down to the bottom) still produced these groups 12" too high.

deffinitely still cuold be a headspace issue but i guess i will have to get that checked out otherwise i gues the front sight has to go up ?¿? hmm

just aquired this rifle, looks amazing for an enfield was hoping to bag my deer with it this fall but i don't kniow if i will get this problem sorted out in time

any more imput is appretiated
thanks
