There are some rimfire revolvers that come with 2 cylinders, one for 22lr and one for 22wmr, but the barrels don't need to be swapped. i always thought the bullets for 22wmr and 22lr were slightly different diameter, enough so that they couldn't use the same barrels, but i guess not. Are the barrels on these revolvers bored out more than regular 22lr revolvers? i'm wondering because i'm getting a taurus tracker, and if the cylinders for the 22lr and 22wmr were swappable, i might just pick up a 22wmr cylinder just for the heck of it.

Mines got one for 45 LC and one for 45 ACP

And the issue Mike is if your gun would come with a .454 or .451 bore.

If they ship with a .454 bore, it will work well with the .45 Colt, but the accuracy with the .45 ACP could be pretty iffy.

the blackhawk convertible in 45acp/45 colt uses a 451 bore- the same gun in 9mm/38 spcl/357 mag uses the 357 bore-they use the more common bore size rather than the 'tighter bore

thanks for the info guys. after some thought, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to try anyways since indexing might be different. I'll probably email taurus to see if this would be possible, though i'm sure they're just going to say no because of bore diameter. actually, i dont even know if there is a .22wmr taurus tracker.

Ruger rimfire convertables for .22 l.r. & .22 mag. are slightly larger at .223 bore size (I think) to better accommodate the larger diameter .22 mag bullet confirming why these shoot the .22 mag more accurately. Whether this practise is consistent with other manufacturers is unclear.
