Question about Stag compensator swap

I have a Stag 15 (.223) upper with a factory compensator on it. It works great, but the sideways percussion of the shot blows my stuff of the range table and irritates my fellow shooters. I also have a Tactical Solutions (.22 cal) upper with a basket type flash hider on it .

Question: Should I safely be able to swap these two with each other so I have the compensator on the TacSol and the Basket on the Stag?

Anyone see issues/thread problems or general safety problems with this?

I haven't removed either of them yet (novice) so I don't even know if they would physically fit.

What do you think?

PM me or comment please

I forsee a thread problem as the Stag compensator is pinned on, not threaded on I believe.

You would have to take the upper to a gun smith and have him thread the barrel.

Did you buy the Stag new? A lot of people ask Walt to thread the barrel before sending it out. If that's the case you just need to check to see if the threads match.

My Stag compensator is not pinned on, it's threaded. I got it from Walt last spring.
Leave it on, it's a great compensator! REALLY great when you are in a competition shoot and there is someone on your left and right. Give you the edge when they get their hats blown off every time you shoot... :D:D

I Love the compensator, but my son gets migraines and the concussion from the lateral blast gives him an instant headache after one shot. It sure clears the range table too.

Yeah i have never been a fan of this compensator either. if it is from an older batch of STAG's it should be threaded. Then you should be able to switch them with no problem. If it is a newer batch then it may be pinned and need to get threaded

I think I'll be swapping mine out too, so thanks for asking the question!

I'm sure the compensator works well (spoken with Walt about it) but I just prefer the look of the flash hider.

Doesn't make a difference one way or another, it's a range gun...but I just find they look cooler without it. Nitpicky and wasting money maybe, but I want my gun to be my gun.

I just went through this with my Stag. Took the upper to TacOrd and had Casey thread the barrel and install a YH Suppressor. Either send it back to Walt, or have a smith like Casey set you up and you're good to go. I just chose Casey because a) he does great work and b) didn't have to wrry about shipping
