Question about Surefire X400 (mounted on AR15) light

you might be too close to the wall, if you move further back, does it do the same thing, does the line appear on all walls, different colors, textures, what about on a plain white piece of paper ?

It should be a dot. I'll wager you can clean it with a scrubbing pad without damage ... but email surefire tech support and you'll get a proper answer in a day or so. helpyou@surefire.com
 
Mine has a dot but there's also a small "tickmark" at around 11:00. Most likely the horizontal line is due to debris on the lens if it changes when you clean it. You should be able to use a damp cloth as the unit is O-ring and gasket sealed.
 
Yeah give surefire a call and include that picture in the email.

I have had a bunch of lasers, and the only time there was ever a streak like that, was when the lens was slightly scratched.
 
This is the best photo I could get from my X400. It's cropped so you can see it better, but at regular distances it looks more like a dot.
