Hi all - Q: are Swiss K11 Carbines "purpose built" carbines, or are they cut down 1911s? Or a combo of both? Curious because I have a K11 that is all matching except for the rear sight assembly; the rear sight post and slider numbers do match. I'm thinking that this was a cut down 1911 that had the carbine sights installed(?). Any insight or lesson appreciated!

Serial number matters, true K11s started with 30001. So K11s are both conversion and purposely built carbines. Mine is in 180### range also has rear sight with sub-contractor number that is not matching to rifle serial. Same thing with G96/11. I don't have true G11 to check.

I have a g11 and it too has a rear sight with a different number meanwhile everything else matches. Although everything on my k11 matches completely if I remember correctly. Even the front sight is numbered on the k11.

I think it's a pretty common thing to encounter on the 1911's Adam

Thanks Noah! Just another historical rubix cube to try and figure out.

Any good milsurp scores lately? I've been selling mine.....getting into long range/precision shooting!
