Question about Tavor bolt carrier group

Not normal. My BCG has wear in various places on the bottom, but nothing on the sides.

Does it move freely in the rifle? If you put a fine layer of oil over the BCG do you see a matching line traced in the oil?

There seems to be a slight matching traced line.
The group seems to move normally as far as I can tell.

If the tavor shoots fine and the action cycles fine then I wouldn't worry about it to much myself. From the pictures it appears to be cosmetic damage on the bcg that wont effect function.

My best guess is, there is a machining burr in there and the bcg is rubbing on it. Im willing to bet the burr will get worn down eventually if it isnt already and quit marking the bcg.

Leave it to TVPP to want to be looking up inside buts. He must have a calling to be a proctologist. :)

Looks like you can see the culprit in your first pic. There is a small but shiny line on the right side. Looks to be corresponding to your bcg line. Feel it with your finger? Does your fingernail catch on it perpendicularly? Some fine Emory on a file will help.
 
There's actually 3 of those machining lines (one below and one higer above that one) and theyre on both sides, make 6 of them.
But they're really faint and the circled one is lower than the wear line on the carrier group
 
You can switch the brass deflector and the ejection port cover to their oposite sides for left handed use. Once you do this cycle the action by hand a few times. If the marks appear in the opposite side of the bcg then you will have confirmed its the brass deflector, screws or plastic piece causing the wear on the bcg as per your original suspicions.

Doing this check of course has the potential to mark the other side of the bcg. So please be warned. Also dont chamber any rounds or snap caps either. That would be a nasty jam up without the lefty bolt.

Just gave this a try. Didn't see any wear. Probably would only happen if I ran some rounds through it.
I also emailed IWI-US and they replied very promptly with this:

"The wear on the bolt is from test firing. After the rifles are built they are test fired before they are shipped. In all honesty, the only way to avoid more wear is to not use it. Much like a car having wear as a result of being driven, the rifle will wear as it is shot. The best way to minimize wear is to clean the rifle after use and use good maintenance procedures. The manual should go over the cleaning/maintenance procedures. The machining marks are from the manufacturing of the carrier itself, again everything in the pictures is normal and is nothing to be considered about.

Canadian Tavors are not made by IWI US.
Our tavors come directly from Israel and have nothing to do with IWI US.
I realize that, and he told me that ours come direct from Israel and to contact North Sylva if I actually needed it to be serviced
But it's not like their constructions are drastically different, so I figured he could answer some basic questions I had.

I might be wrong, but I think the tavors in US has different bolt carrier group than ours.
