I am new to the forum so I apologize if this is the wrong sub-forum. I noticed that the Ammo Source is having a sale. Among their items they have (what I would assume to be) some residual NEA 15 BCGs. I don't know much about the NEA/BCL affair and I don't care to instigate another conversation on the matter. I simply remember reading that the shorter NEA rifles were plagued by a plethora of issues while reading in some places that the longer barreled rifles were much more reliable. From what I know of the development of the AR platform this also happened to be the case when they reduced the barrel length without appropriately tuning the gas length, port and buffer weights accordingly earlier on. What intrigues me with these BCGs is that they have a gas key like no other I have ever observed. Whenever I have looked at BCGs online they all have the gas key at an angle while this one is completely upright at a 90 degree bend. I would assume the gas key is on an angle for a reason in the original design and in this case I would speculate that it is likely stronger than the odd variant found in this BCG, but assuming that the longer NEA rifles were more reliable and that they used this BCG, could one assume that this odd gas key should not be a worry?

Is it worth risk with the 18% April discount?

I thought that this was the case as well, but I couldn't imagine it would be that much more of a difference in cost savings.
