Were would you recomend to buy an sks for cheap?
Please dont tell me the equipment exchange because I am not allowed to see anything there. Just companys in Canada please.

I got mine from marstar with their "buy a case of ammo get an SKS for $75" deal. If you do the math, even after shipping, its well worth it. The guns they are selling are new chinese military versions. They arent special or ###y in any way but work great, have chrome lined bores and are in unfired condition. If you want something to collect or show off, get a different SKS, if you want something to shoot and upgrade, this is a great deal. I just finished off the case of 1400 rounds that came with my $75 SKS... not one single round gave me an issue or failed to fire.

What he said. I've got about 400 rounds left....gone this weekend!

Spend a few bucks more and get a quality Russian made one, I paid $189 for mine.. for a full featured semi auto rifle..that's pocket change!

Oh my gosh, really... not one thread can slip by you guys without some comment about how awful it is to upgrade an SKS. Maybe its time to lighten up just a few shades and let the rest of the world do their thing while you do yours without commenting. Your comments have nothing to do with the OP's question and are not at all helpful... so why leave those comments?

For the record
Upgrade?... yes UPGRADE. To ME (ME as in not you) adding a tapco stock and a few other bits and pieces was an UPGRADE. Guess what, the gun still shoots exactly the same as it did before, its just a heck of a lot more comfortable. Its a chinese military gun. Its not special or rare or collectible. Its a cheap gun that I used to learn about working on, modifying and maintaining guns before I bought something more expensive. It just so happens that in the process I IMPROVED the gun for ME.

If you want a "bubba" get one in the EE already done... let them take the loss. I do understand why people want to make an sks a "black rifle" but I seriously doubt you will get your investment back when you try to sell it.

It's a great surplus rifle, made to shoot cheap surplus ammo. Plink away, clean and it will last a very long time. If you mess it up, buy another.

Bam... exactly. Ill never sell mine. But I learned a ton of lessons building it and worst case is I wreck a $75 gun. Not a big loss. Its fun to shoot, thats for sure.

I got a chinese one 6 or so years ago. at some point I wanted to see how poor of treatment it could hold up to. I clean it anually, occasionally run a bore snake through after shooting the real nasty ammo. if it starts giving me trouble, I give it a quick shot of 5w30, bang it on a rock, and rack it till it moves freely again.

my experience says you should be pretty confident in the design. the chinese ones work if you don't want to love it to death. I always throw in a pitch for frontier (see the top). if not, go with the ammo + $75 deal. every one should have 2.

I paid $75 or so for shipping of the case and the gun... not sure if the price has come down a bit but it was still only $100 for the gun... and the ammo wasnt a bad price when you factor what you saved on the gun. I dont regret it at all and dont think I could have done alot better buying them seperately.
