I would like to knows what is the best twist rate for accuracy at 100-300 yards maximum. I don't knows witch twist rate is the best between 1:8 or 1:12.

If i chose the 1:8 for the heavier bullets(105gr.) does it have enough time to stabilise at 100-200 yards.

Thanks

I would go with 8:1 any less may limit your 300 distance. If you want a short range you would be better off with a 6PPC. My 6br shoots the 105s at 100 yards better than I do.
I guess it depends on what range you are going to shoot the most.

Twist rate

The 6mm ppc shooters use a 1in14 twist to shoot 100-200,I use mine out to 300yds. So with the 6BR if you're limiting yourself to 300yds the 1in 12 is the way to go. If you have any thoughts of shooting further then you'll require a faster twist and this will depend on distance.

Soditide do you want this for a benchrest gun?
If so you should go with a 1-14 twist and plan on shooting a 65-68gr flat base bullet like most short range br shooters do.

Yes it's for benchrest shooting only. i'm looking for the Savage model LRVP. The twist rate offer is 1:8 or 1:12. Like i said i'm affraid the heavier bullet will have not enough time to stabilise at 100-200 yard.

The flat base bullet, is it for the short range only or is it good for medium range?

The longer bullets with higher bc work best past 300 yds imo but they do stabilize at 100yds .

Using a flat base bullet is suppose to give better accuracy at short range up to 300 yds or so .

Benchrest shooters use 65-68 gr flat base bullets for best results at short range.

If your 2 options are 1-8 and 1-12 twist and you plan on shooting from 100 to 300 yds you would be better off getting the 1-12 twist imo.

KR Varmint Match(VM) 1-14" 23" finish for BR use and yes, we have them, as well as other contours and twists.

Peter
