That's a bullet hole from the Vietnam war... a VC took a shot at the GI carrying the rifle but hit the gun instead.

Saved the GI's life.

You could sell that sucker on E-bay for at least $700 ;)

Well..it's an interesting theory :rolleyes:
 
It is called a weep hole. It is present on most USGI M14 type stocks, synthetics included. Some guys are using the hole to mount bipods but once you figure out what it was really meant for, you'll slap yourself silly.:D
 
I had heard it's a place for any extra gas to escape. (whether it needs it or not?). It's also where most people put their stud if they want to put on a harris bipod.
