I got my very first gun arriving tomorrow, the SP-01 Shadow. I swear I saw a thread here a while ago on how to clean & oil a new gun, but can no longer find it. Does anyone have a link? I need to know what supplies to buy tomorrow so I'm ready. Thanks!

A pistol cleaning kit and a bronze wire brush for 9mm. Most kits will come with some cleaner, oil and a supply of bore patches. Outside of that just some general cleaning solvent for the outside protective goo it'll be covered in. Mineral spirits, otherwise known as low odor paint thinner for oil based housepaint or Varsol, will do fine for that. But for now a spritz of WD40 followed by a wipedown will do nicely. The grips you may want to remove first and wash separately with some straight up detergent and an old toothbrush followed by a rinse. That'll leave them dry of any oil and grippy feeling.

Oh, and congrats on an excellent first hand gun. My own first was my Shadow.

Thanks! I can barely wait. It (she?) should come in today, so I asked my boss if I can work from home. :D

IMHO referring to a gun - especially a handgun - as 'it' is wrong. Such beauty should be a 'she'...

Is bronze wire OK for the barrel? I thought some guys were using nylon. TIA.

I keep WD40 away from my guns as any left on them will gum up and cause a varnish like coating. Something like Kleen Bore Gunk-Out is much better.
Bronze wire is fine as long as you wash out powder solvent afterward so it won't eat the brush, that's why nylon is better. I don't brush my barrels unless patches don't do the job.
Enjoy the Shadow!
