What scope rings did you use?? I think I'm gonna put a Mueller 4.5x-14x 40mm APV on my American when it gets here, but I'm concerned about having the eye piece of the scope interfere with movement of the bolt handle(have heard this can happen). Anyone here have one of these scopes on an American? I'd love to hear what you chose for rings if so. Right now I'm leaning towards the Millet high rings or maybe the Talleys. Also do any of you know where to order the Millet rings from if I do go that way?

I have a cz scout (452) with a 40 mm objective on a leupold and went with talleys, work great, highly recommend, order direct from Talley, best price and quickest shipping.

X 2 for Talleys

I have that combo with, and I'm pretty sure, medium Leupolds. The high leupolds were crazy high. Its too bad they don't externally mark the rings as to their heights. It can get confusing years later.

Yes, I want to have my scope as low as possible, but still have the clearance needed for the bolt handle. I want to try mediums, but I am getting the feeling that high rings will be needed for most types of rings with this scope(the Mueller APV I'm looking at has an eye piece of 1.65" at the largest diameter according to their website). Anybody who responded already know the diameter of the eye piece on your scopes? I'm thinking this will be the bigger issue than the objective lens size. Thanks again.

Grizzlypeg, what combo are you speaking of? Do you run a Mueller on a 452 American? If so then I may have to look at the Leupold rings if you can get by with the medium size.

Yes, its a Mueller APV on a 452 American. I'll take a measurement of the ring, if that in any way helps. I once looked into this before, and I can't find the old package for the Leupold rings. As I said, you don't see markings on the rings themselves. A good store like Wholesale sports will allow you to buy them, and return them if its wrong. That's where I bought my rings here in Wpg.

The objective on a 40mm is well off

the barrel at the height needed to clear the scope handle. I really wish I could tell you which height rings they are.

That fit looks very good for clearance. Does the fit of the rings in the dove tail on the receiver cause the scope to cant to the side at all? I was looking on Rimfirecentral.com at a thread that had pictures showing some rings not matching the angle that the dovetail was cut at, this caused the rings/scope to be slightly canted when the rings were tightened. That is the reason I was looking at Millet rings, I saw a picture of them mounted in the same thread and they looked to fit the dove tail perfectly, however your Leupolds look better I.M.O.and they also look to have the scope closer to the barrel. If there is no canting issue with them then I'll likely buy the Leupolds instead. Sorry for the 20 questions, I really appreciate your input though, as you have the same rifle/scope combo that I'll be running.

Looking from the front or rear, the Leupold rings don't sit crooked or canted on the receiver. I would say that the side plate that tightens down with a screw to fasten the ring to the dovetail is sitting at an angle as viewed from the rear. I've experienced no problem with losing scope zero. Rings are probably talls, now that I think of it, they had extra talls and they were crazy tall.

I just got my CZ and have been to busy to get it mounted up yet. I have the CZ rings which look real nice and am putting on a Zeiss 3-9 x 40 scope. Hope it works out. Cheers

You shouldn't have any problems with the CZ rings this is a 6-24x42mm on cz rings mounted on a 452 american.they give ampable clearence.
