Could you please tell me if you are required to fill out, every time you go to the range to shoot your handguns, a form detailing: your full name, transport permit number, handgun caliber, serial number, registration certificate number, time of arrival at the range, time of departure from the range and your signature?

My range has just started requesting us to fill out such a form that, according to the range owners, has to be faxed to the SQ at the end of every week.

I have never done anything against the law in my life, but this facking laws have me feeling like a criminal anyways.

Yes.

Its part of "Anastasia's Law" and its not just for handguns, its for all restricted's including long arms.

That mother f'er! Unfortunately, the alternative to him is even more gruesome

The range owner also told me that it was going to be a tool for the Jackbooted Zombies to know which handguns we are not shooting, so that they can confiscate them; and that they'll probably do the same for those who don't renew their transport permits, since they wouldn’t really be “Target Practicing”, if they didn’t have one. How can that be? I don't think people who own over 50 or 100 restricteds are going to shoot ALL of them every year, let alone many times in a year.

we print our name, member # time in/out... sign it

The part about sending the info to the SQ every week is news to me.

Did he also mention that all members must past a practical test, beginning in 2009?

To this day, we only have to sign a sheet with name, date and member card number...

Let's hope it is only limited to your range due to some kind of paranoia from your owner...

I do know we have to pass a new course for 2009... to make sure we know the new law by heart I suppose. Like if a new boring useless course will suddenly make all shooters uber safe and prevent any new murder. pfff

Yeah, at my club they had us fill out a numbered list for our restricted firearms. So instead of having to write our certificate info each time when we go to the range to sign in, we will just have to mark the appropriate gun number corresponding to that list. This is to prevent undesired people from having acces to your serial numbers and the like...

We will also be tested for safety procedures and handling. Including a live fire exercise.

One more reason I want this country in pieces. At least 2 anyways. ;)

This kind of 'runny loon ####' thinking can seep across provincial borders easier than national ones.

Just put your ATT number. We in Quebec have the luxury of "All Restricted firearms registered to my name" when we put in our ATT forms.

Some of us take more than one gun to the club and the new sign-in sheets only have room for one number.

i put my name,sign name,member # and att#.
next year everyone has to take a practical test at the least.they are offering a course but it's not necessary.the course and test about$35 extra.the test about$20.
i heard this today at my club from the person responsible.
they,as i did,thought it is B.S. laws to hassle the law-abiding...

My club ask for name, member number, date and hour in/out... So far. I am located in Matane, Gaspésie. I will definatly don't write down serial number and make/model of all the restricted i bring to the club. No Fu**ing Way! If SQ don't like it, then charge me!

That is correct. According to the Anastasia law, all people wishing to shoot RESTRICTED firearms at a range in Quebec must provide their name and member #, date, time AND either the serial # and/or certificate # and/or ATT #. Clubs that do not take down this information from EVERY shooter are running the risk of being permanently shut down.

This is the law, effective September 1st. Faxing it weekly to the SQ is NOT written anywhere to my knowledge. However, the SQ can request at any time that the club staff/owners provide all sign in sheets. If any information is missing, the club can (and more than likely will) be shut down.

It is also correct that ALL current and new members will have to pass a written and live fire aptitude test. Once all the fees are calculated, it will cost just under $100 for the MANDATORY tests. Anyone who fails will be denied membership at the club. It is not 100% clear if they will lose membership status at the individual club or at ALL clubs in Quebec.

If you don't want to provide the information, you don't shoot, it's pretty simple. Club owners can't willingly turn a blind eye to those who choose to buck the system since it's their lively hood that will be put in jeopardy.

It's all too typical of Canadian gun owners to whine and protest in private (and with their keyboards) but when the call goes out for donations (both time and money) to fight the legal battles and to stand up for our rights... the majority goes silent... In the end, little by little, we will all lose our firearms rights if we continue on this path.

There are hard copies of the Anastasia law available at CTM, direct from the SQ.
