Question for HK SFP9 owners

So yesterday during some range fun I noticed that when my SFP9 slide is locked to the rear and you take loaded mag (doesn’t matter how many rounds are in it) and slam the mag into its home, the slide racks forward chambering a round. Pushing the loaded mag in under normal force won’t cause the slide to go forward, but using a little more than usual force will send it.

Question of the day... anyone else have this issue with their SFP9?
I’ve read the manual, didn’t see anything on this. If it’s in there, I missed it.

Oh also, an empty mag will not do this no matter how hard you slam it in there.

My wife has one, does the same thing, I believe they are designed to do that, sort of an " auto forward" feature. She loves it, especially for IDPA. Pretty sure some M&P's do the same thing, but I'm not an M&P guy, so not positive on that one. My FNS9LS will do the same thing also

Ok good news. I love this pistol way too much to have to send it somewhere for repair or warranty work.
My berreta, 1911, and taurus don’t do this so it really caught me by surprise.

I would consider it a perk, unless you perform reloads with your booger hook in the wrong spot.

I also find it useful in competition, although I rarely run the gun dry.

A lot of polymer framed pistols do this. My p30l does it if i really slam it home. My sfp9 does as well. The usp does but you need to really smack that one. Metal frame guns won't have the frame flex so that wouldn't happen. I can't speak for m&ps or glocks since I've never owned one. But i have heard of m&ps doing that.

Some consider it a feature. I dislike it. It's probably the only thing I actually don't like about my sfp9.

Never has my G22 or G19 done this .

This is a great 'perk' when I had an SFP9 when competing. I too have heard Glocks will do this apparently at the right angle. Never experienced it myself..but since the SFP9 does it make sure to keep your finger off the trigger on reloads.

Good to know. So glocks don't do that. Or maybe like the usp they need a substantial amount of force to make it happen.

Some Gen 3 and 4s ( don’t know about Gen5) will do it. My Gen 3 G22 does it occasionally. My Gen 2 19 doesn’t do it at all. I found my Browning HiPower all steel gun did it today, much to my surprise. SP-01s do it all the time!

KiddX will call this a manufacturer problem and a design flaw. I say it’s a gamer’s bonus! My problem is, since none of my guns do it predictably, it’s a bit of a pain, not knowing when it’ll happen!

I agree with Kidd X on this one. I wish my sfp9 didn't do it. Drills bad habits into user. But I am practicing the reloads to not just smash it into the gun. That way i can do the reloads correctly every time.

I'll try tonight on my SFP9. My Mark 23 does this. Maybe it's a HK "feature"?

Edit: Nope, the SFP9 wouldn't do it.

I have several different make pistols that do it. When shooting against the clock I rely upon the slide dropping automatically.

The only pistol I have that is designed to do it is a H&K HP4. A loaded mag will trip the slide even if gently seated.

Really? Yours doesn’t do it?

And you tried with a loaded mag? Or at least with a dummy round/snap cap in the mag?

Mine doesn’t do it if I just push it in, but if I drive it home... it does it every time gaurenteed

My SFP9 does it. My PPQ does it, and my XDM did it, if I drive the mags in loaded and hard, which is great in IDPA.
Unloaded and soft insertion, and slide goes forward, then I'd be a bit concerned...

5 Snap Caps in the mag. Tried a dozen times and couldn't get it to release the slide. Mark23 releases the slide every time.

Yes you are right, I will have take out for a run one of these days I don't know now, about ramming the mag in, don't take it out much.

My old M8 required you squeeze the cocking mechanism to release the slide. Slamming the mag in didn’t do it automatically. Sold the gun so can’t test it now.
