i have a few enfields, 2 are lithgows No1 mk3(1942 or 43)and have the smle markings and one isa BSA mk3* shtle. Can someone direct me to a site or the best book to use to identify some of the markings? I hear about this "C broadarrow" marking..... anyone have a pic of that marking. Also one of my receivers... I think the lithgow, has 4 or 5 kings crowns stamped along the right receiver just at the stock line. Would be neat to figure out what all these markings mean

oooooh pictures :)

42 43 that would be King George, I'll have to pullout my 42 lithgow and look I don't recall seeing any proofmarks like that. they are all Austrailain stars with numbers IIRC.

The LeeEnfield Story by Skennerton is the main book but there are others.

The C broad arrow mark you can fine here as an avatar I think there are 2 different users using it now but I don't remember who just look around.

also check out my webpages I have a few other links there to other sites with markings.

The king'scrowns stamped along the receiver's wood line are inspector's psrrofs stamped there during manufacture. Echo woodchopper on Skennerton's LES. THE reference for these rifles. Ignore stratton - it's wrought with errors.

Here's a C-broadarrow denoting Canadian Forces ownership:
