Question for marlin xt22 .22mag owners

Hey guys,just wondering what your rifles like and dislike for ammo? I haven't had much range time with this thing yet even though I've got it a couple of years.I bought some hornady 30 gr vmax recently but haven't tried it.Still can't decide what the caliber best suits yet lol.

The consensus is that that there is no consensus.

All levity aside, there are lots of things to consider. My rifle tends to prefer the Remington 33 gr Accutip-V. I can hold 0.95 MOA at 115 yards from the prone position. The Hornady 30 gr V-MAX don't do quite as well in my gun. Theoretically, the relatively shallow microgroove rifling ought to prefer the slower velocity projectiles (i.e., 40-50 gr), but in this case the light faster bullets (33 gr) seem to do quite well for me.

Edit: My rifle is the XT-22 MVSR.

Mine likes Vmax and CCI ammo, the remington stuff is all over as with the fmj federal. Mine seems to like anything 30-40 grain with a polymer tip or hollow point going 2000fps or better.

Thanks guys,hope the vmax stuff shoots decent in it I've read that it's hit and miss with the vmax in marlin xt series.Some will shoot it well and some won't. Wow,that Remington accutip is pricey.

Had it out to the range today with the vmax and accuracy was decent but not spectacular so I slid a 5 dollar bill down the barrel channel and it was touching in a couple of spots. I free floated it this evening back to the front action bolt. I will see how that works out.

Mine prefers the Winchester 34g JHP. Then the 30g Hornady V-Max.
