Will grips made for a MkII fit on a MkI? If yes, do they require adjusting/modification?

I am purchasing a MkI and am looking for custom wood grips for it. Everone makes grips for the MkII or MkIII.

At $60U.S., don't want to import to find have to return for refund.

Thanks in advance to all you Ruger experts! LOL

If you feel like a bit of woodwork, try making your own. I have a MkII and obtained a small piece of 1/4" teak for nothing from a marine supplier. I just shaped them and tried for a smooth surface and I really like the result. If nothing else, the grips fit and are unique.

Try making your own! I have a MKII and used some 1/4" teak I got for free to make a smooth-finish set. They fit well and look Ok. I didn't tell the guy at the marine supply store that it was for a GUN.

I would think that mk2 to a mk1 will work, but mk1 to a mk2 will need to be cut out for the bolt release. That's the only difference I can think of.

Sorry about two posts. I thought only one went out into space. I have little wood-working experience also, but all you need to do is trace out the shape of the existing grip panels and the rest is grunt work with a file and sand paper. If it doesn't work out it's only a small addition to the fire.
