I live 24 Km from Humboldt. We have very very good waterfowl hunting but few if any sharptails and scattered and scarce huns most years. If you have good sharptail habitat on your land it may not hold any, I own some real good habitat but we just can't seem to get sharptails breeding on it. Huns depend on the winters here. after a few open winters, like the falls of '05 and '06, we had good huntable numbers of huns. After the blizzard of Jan '07 our huns were nearly wiped out and are only just coming back to "sparse" from "rare". I shoot 3-6 sharptails each year around home on a few carefully guarded spots, but good upland hunting is generally south and west of us. Non resident hunters have been really greedy with our upland birds for years, thank goodness they have seasonal limits with tags now. The resource could not stand unlimited pressure from people who don't live here and want to get all they can in a short time.
One other thought, "access" to land is not much of an issue here, just knock on a farmers door and ask, have very seldom been refused permission to hunt. Enjoy Saskatchewan!
