If you had a choice to reload once fired Dominion Brass or Once fired Imperial brass all in excellent shape/Which would be the best choice.
Thanks

Hi Ganderite
Thanks for the info. All I know about the brass is that they are once fired out of a bolt action, and that the previous person bought this stuff by the case with the intention of reloading it one day.Lot # I don't have a clue. There are about 3-4 hundred cases in a box. This stuff is about 20 years old or older.

I'm reloading Dominion that was made in the 60's. I don't care myself who made the case, I'm more concerned with the volume of cases being the same. Smaller inside volume makes for changes (sometimes dangerous) in velocity and consitancy.

Both Dominion and Imperial were made in the same factory in Brownsburg Quebec. Dominion is ths older CIL brand name. I'm not sure of the date but they changed to Imperial brand name. Both were made on the same machines.

I love the colour of my few .38 Dominion brass cases, they have kind of a rosy tone. When I start up in CAS I want a bandoleer filled with them :)

"...kind of a rosy tone..." That's not good. It's the copper coming out.
Imperial can be old too. Used by both CIL(pre-67/68ish) and IVI(until 1980). Both are good though.

i thought so as well i have 60 dominion bras that i just cleaned i think ill keep them as colecters

Dominion Ammunition used many different head stamps over the years. Lots there to collect.
Some were D.C.Co. others were just "Dominion," etc.
Will have to look at some of my old ones, refresh the memory.

I used to work at the brownsburg factory, doing R&D esting in the early 60's. I don't recall centre fire ammo being called "Imperial". I think that was an IVI application, after they bought the palce from CIL.

That is why i think Imperial would be newer. The Dominion is probably better quality.

Quality was the the strong suite of IVI.
