I have an old Cooey . The only markings on it are stamped at the rear on the action,
Cooey 22 Repeater
The bolt is missing on this rifle but a gunnuter has a mod 60 bolt listed for sale in EE.
Can any one tell me if a 60 bolt will fit this old gun. It would be kind of fun to get the old thing going.
My limited research said cooey started repeaters with the mod 60 but this one has no model marks on it.

Hello slowfire - It is 98.4% certain that yours is a version of the Cooey 60. I'm guessing a tube-fed model? I've owned several of these, they are good solid machines, and I'm sure at least 2 of them were just called 'Repeater'. The bolt will almost certainly install properly, but the headspacing may be off a bit.

Cooey 60s have a very particular method of installing and removing the bolt. There's a nut on the underside of the action that holds the magazine feed in place to the bolt. That nut has to be loosened up to remove the bolt from the action. To install, the bolt has to engage with the magazine feed and be tightened to a point that allows just a bit of play. Hard to describe, but there are some good YouTube videos with a description (see 314299's video list, his vids are excellent).

Enjoy your Canadian classic, they are hard to kill. Russia has the AK47 and SKS, Germany the M98 Mauser, the US has the 1903 Springfield and AR15. But here in Canada, we have the Cooey!

The headspace on these rifles was set by filing the rear of the bolt handle base. A used bolt might or might not fit, or able to be fitted. I would suggest giving it a try.

Around 1934 is when old man Cooey started stamping the receivers "Cooey Repeater 22 CAL"
If it's just is stamped "Repeater .22 CAL" it could be an earlier one far back as 1931.
Five years later it was designated as the Model 60.
Should be fine, but head space should be checked.
Like tiriaq suggest...give it a try.

As far as I know the early repeaters are basically the same rifle as the model 60. Whether there were any changes made to the bolt, that I don't know.
Pics of mine, if it's any help.

To throw a "wrench in there" - I have one - the words "Cooey" and "Model 60" are stamped on the top of the barrel - along with many other words - ahead of the rear sight. There is nothing stamped on the top of the receiver, at the rear.
