I just bought a nice old Cooey 84 at the Chilliwack gun show. I've shot one before and liked how it shouldered and feels... Plus it was cheap!
My question is, what seems to be the best method for keeping the next cartridge handy? Have them in a belt, a bandolier, on the stock or in your mouth?:p

Yes, I use butt stock shell holders on both of my H&R's.

But they are only there to carry the shells.

A single shot is just that.

If I miss with the first shot nothing hangs around for a reload so it really is more because I think it looks cool instead of truly being a "functional" thing. In reality I would be no better/worse off carrying them in my pocket :)

I hate buttstock shell holders... I just keep a few in the left and right vest pockets... single, vertical or horizontal double, or trombone, or self loader makes no difference.

Have it in my left hand next to the fore grip. Shoot, strong hand opens the action and weak hand tosses in the next shell.

Loose in a loose pocket.

Remember you're using a single shot shotgun here. If you think quick followups are going to be common bring a repeating shotgun.
This shotgun will probably only be used for shooting a few clays while out in the woods with the boys. I'd like to have the next cartridge handy instead of fishing around in my pockets for one.

Ears!!! Nice, I forgot about that orifice!
So really one could carry 7 cartridges in your head alone. 2 in your ears, 3 in your mouth and 2 up your nose! Primers out of coarse.
