I picked up a molot imported sniper last winter and have gotten it shooting between 1 1/2 and 2 inch groups regularly with handloads off the bench. Before I bought it (and recently, the mosin bug has got me again) I was researching how people were accurizing their mosins (shimming, free floating the barrel, putting some upward pressure on the barrel, etc.) when I took apart my sniper for cleaning and oiling under the wood way back, I realized mine had already been shimmed under the tang and in recoil lug.

Now I know when a rifle was chosen to be built into a sniper variant they went further with the fit and finish it, but does anyone else's sniper have the shims already there?

Extra points, does anyone else's sniper also have a free floating barrel?

I had shims in my M38, either from refurb or before that I can't tell. One was on the recoil lug and one was under the trigger assembly.
