I have a Miroku 1873 where following each shot, after the hammer has fallen all the way forward, the hammer spur obscures my view of the sights. I'm tempted to get a taller front sight so that I can follow-through on my shots but I think the factory one already sticks out a bit too far... the originals look like they have even lower front sights. I figure this must be the norm on these guns and I'm curious as to how other owners of 1873's feel about this (does it bother you?) and if you have done anything to change the sights on your '73 rifles.

I have an Uberti. This isn’t really an issue for me, but mine is in 357, so almost no recoil to hamper my follow up shots. Always just crank the lever immediately to clear my sight path.

When you rack the lever the sight picture is clear again it is how most 1873's work. There isn't much follow through in cowboy action and that's what most of these guns are used for. If it really bothers you google "slick magic" there is a brass piece called sure sight you can slip on to the marbles front sight on your rifle it will give you some extra height and helps your speed on big cowboy targets. It should help with the follow through.
