Hi gents!

Might be in the wrong forum .. hope not. My friend is wondering what his Model 94 in 38-55 is worth? Nice inlay work, 24" octagon barrel. It looks like it is some kind of repro of an early model 94. I told him that it is just a wall hanger and was sure that it wasn't worth much. I am NOT much of a collector and so really have NO idea. Can any of you help? Looks like it was made around 1980.

Thanks!

I'm going out on a limb here but I think that gun because of the caliber is worth a little more?
I say you should get $350-450 depending on condition!

35gn of 3031 & a 220gn Horn & you got a beautiful eastern canada deer hunter :)

It is worth more now that it was about a month ago that is for sure...
In my neck of the woods that rifle would sell for 400+ dollars easily.
Standard pre-64 30-30s in fair condition fetch 400 bucks here.

This could very well be a commerative. Any chance of posting a photo of your friend's rifle?

If that is the case price could be little higher, depend on condition of the gun as well as casing, box that it comes in. New one will be in the range of 750 - 1000

Winchester guns are fetching premium prices because of all the speculation over what's going on with the sale of their main plant. Winchester is lapping it up. They are saying nothing. Looks like marketting to me.
Sell before they anounce that the '94 is indeed not dead, and you'll get a better price.

Bigredd, you old #### disturber :), the 94 Winchester 'can openner' as you call it, will still be cranking when you're turned to dust, and the weeds are deep on your grave. It may be made in another country, it may even be sold by Browning but it will continue.
It may be discontinued for a short time, but that will be marketting too.
My guess is that Miroku will be making it, and the quality will be excellent, but the price will be high. Or at least more than the current (uninflated) market price. I'm also going to guess that it will still wear the Winchester (not Browning) name.

Wow!

You Winchester guys are hard core!! LOL!
Thanks for all the info guys .. I will get a pic tonight so that you can tell me exactly what it is. I have a feeling that it may be a Commerative rifle .. there is a gold medallion on the stock, gold finish i believe also.
