I have a Norinco NP-34 (Sig P228 clone).
I want to replace the barrel with an extended, threaded barrel.

Will a Sig P228 replacement barrel fit on an NP-34?

There are two models for the P228, the E1 (original) and the E2 which is supposedly a slimmed down version of the P228.

Is the NP-34 barrel an E1 or an E2?

As these barrels are $200, I don't want to order the wrong one.

I had purchased a set of TruGlo TFO sights for the Norc and they were too small for the Norc's dovetail, so had to resell them at a loss. Hence I am a little apprehensive to order Sig parts for this supposed "clone".

Thanks for any help you can provide.

To be honest, I have ordered a 1/2" - 28 die and a 1/2-28 knurled cap. In the event that I somehow screw up the barrel (super-hard Chinese steel), I will then have to purchase a replacement non-prohib length.

In which case, I would assume that I should order the "E1" type threaded barrel?

I think you got a few things mixed up here... There is no such thing as E2 P228. E2 stands for Enhanced Ergonomics. The E2 kit is just a 1 piece grip panel that grips the scew hole to stay in place. I think I've heard of some people managing to make it fit on the NP-34.

There is E2 P229, and I know that after the E2, they standardised the frames between the different P229 calibers and the 9mm mags are different; larger than what they used to be.

A 9mm P229 barrel will fit in a P228 body; I know by experience. Now I cannot confirm it will fit in the NP-34; the locking block barrel insert would have to be identical.

I believe Questar has P229 9mm barrels (Threaded and not-) but be prepared to shell out 250-350$.
