I dont know if im retarded or what the deal is but i cant get the trigger group to pop back in. does the hammer have to be cocked or released? saftey is on, bolt closed, mag out. i tried to push the latch in with a screwdriver but it still comes up solid.

Be sure your mag is reinstalled properly and that the front of the trigger group mate properly with the mag. Hammer can be cocked or released but i prefer cocked. Somes sks's may need a blow with a soft maillet to click in place but usually,if the barreled action is seated correctly in the stock, rifle upside down, engage the group with the mag and as you said with safety on, lower the trigger group until make contact with the latch and then, a sharp blow with the palm of your hand should suffice.:)

Some SKSs are just different than others. My stock is a b*tch to get off and others I've seen slide right out. Just give er a whack, she can take it.

Haha yeah i was kind of scared to beat on it saying as my bodyweight wouldnt snap it in, and it came out like nothing. But it worked eventually. I just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to break something in the trigger assembly. thank you both. Go figure hit it harder is usually the right solution!
