Question or two on Polytech and Norinco M14

I have a few questions first is there a difference between the Polytech and Norinco M14 and what are they? I just got a used 2007 Norinco M14 from a co worker, is it worth getting a 2010 model? also any benefit to making this gun a M14s ? I've seen Gorkys M14s and really like the look & set up.
