I was hoping someone had one of these and could offer advice, I remember reading somewhere on-line that the Magpul forend was longer than the stock forend and you can run into issues with the mag well being in the way when you rack the shotgun.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks!

I think that as long its not the 8.5" version it should accept any standard remington 870 fore-end. The 8.5" is shorter so has to have shorter fore-ends I believe. I could be wrong though.

I agree with infidel, I believe that other then the magwell opening they are the same firearm. 8.5" guns are a different beast that are kind of a one off type of deal.

Thanks for the responses!

I was mainly concerned that the mag well sticking out would cause the forend to hit it when I cycle the gun, a normal 870 it isn't a problem as it is basically an opening, but with the mag well stick out, I wasn't sure.

I love the look of the Magpul forend, but didn't want to order one and have it not work properly, but then again, I could always take the dremel to it haha.

I'm going to hijack this thread a bit, I am also considering a Magpul forend (and SGA stock eventually) for my tube mag 14" Norinco 870 clone. What I vaguely recall reading somewhere is someone saying the MOE forend interferes with the sling swivel ring at the tube mag end cap. I don't really believe it, but if I buy it and there is indeed a problem, $45 is still $45 that would have been better spent elsewhere. Does this actually happen?

edit: I just took a leap of faith and bought this forend today. My fears were confirmed - the Magpul MOE forend hits the sling swivel mag tube end cap on my 14" Norinco, before the action is able to close fully. I would like to keep this forend (especially since it was a tight fit, had to hammer it on - I don't think i can get it off to re-install the stock forend), so I think I might try to get a sling swivel-less tube cap from my LGS next few days.
And the forend was only $35+tax

edit 2: I picked up a Remington universal magazine cap, luckily the thread matched the one on my Norinco. Magpul MOE is now able to move all the way forward to close the action. I love the way this forend feels and I think it looks cool too, even though I had to spend an extra $30 just to get it working. Such is the nature of our hobby, I suppose.

I installed a cheap ATI forend on mine last year (no longer whats installed) and i did have to cut away a square at the back for the mag well.
