Hi.
I just have a quick question about the very first DD orders. My M4V5 came with the ".223" markings on the upper. I was told that they are actually chambered for 5.56. Can someone verify if this is the case?

Hey,

I had the same question. I had the chance to go to Shot Show in January of this year and I actually asked the Daniel Defense engineers about that. All guns are chambered in 5.56 Nato. At the time of export of some of the guns, they had to stamp .223 as it is considered a "sporting" calibre unlike the 5.56 NATO which is Military. This allowed easier export to Canada. Thats basically how he explained it to me. But at the end of the day, all Daniel Defense are 5.56 NATO.

So Lets Rat out a manufacturer on CGN. Nice Work.

Lets delete this thread.

I sent an email to daniel defense not long ago about this.
They told me older builds had that stamp and the newer builds had a 5.56 stamp.

Due to previous US State Departments export requirement they were stamped with 223. Since this requirement has changed they should be stamped 5.56. However we find ourselves in a transitional stage were some parts were manufactured prior to the change and some post. Barrels are 5.56 through out. Please send Picture of Multi stamping to wolfgang@wolverinesupplies.com, I have got to see this.
Cheers,
Wolfgang.

Sharpshooter jr. is correct, Lowers stamped with Multi, due to these not being caliber specific, ie. 5.56, 300 (Blackout), 6.8 etc. Uppers are engraved with the specific caliber.
Cheers,
Wolfgang.

I contacted Daniel Defence via email after receiving my new rifle and had the same concerns as the upper was marked .223.
There reply: Thank you for your interest in Daniel Defense and our products. The weapon you have is still able to shoot 5.56 and is actually chambered as a 5.56 and marked as a .223. This is due to the point in time that the weapon was imported into Canada and its requirement to be marked as .223.

yeah it is,

check the manual it came with. theres a small section that tells what your firearm can chamber with an "X" and a checkmark.
read your manual, bro, even if you know your guns. just incase!
