Hi Guys,
I recently purchased a Bersa Thunder 9 pro and and cleaned it as soon as it arrived. Yesterday I went out shooting with it for the first time and shot around 400 rounds through it allowing it to cool down between 50 round sessions. After coming home I cleaned it like I clean all my guns bore solvent and cotton patches followed by more solvent and a bronze brush passing the brush in the direction of the rifling. I then finish off with an oiled patch. After cleaning I inspected the barrel with a flashlight as I always do and was shocked to see what seemed like light pitting near the mouth of the barrel in-between the rifling grooves. I clean the barrel again with the brush and more solvent and it seemed to be reduced but was still visible and looks like pitting. After some research I found it may be powder and lead residue, as it seems like a greyish substance. If it is pitting I have a hard time believing it could happen to a new gun kept in a temperature controlled safe but who knows right? What do you guys think? How do I remove the fowling if it isn't pitting? Thanks for the help!
