I was just wondering if this gun needs to be cleaned before it's first use. In the past I've never cleaned my guns right after buying them but i just wanted to check since this thing came all the way from china

Mine seemed clean enough to shoot out of the box, but I can never resist a complete disassembly of a new gun. And while i'm there, I give it the G96 because I like the smell.

Probably the worst thing you can do to any new gun is just yank it out of the box and fire it. Disassemble, clean all the storage oil off it, lube it properly, clean the bore, dry the bore, go shoot it.

thanks guys. i just finished cleaning it. i lubed the bolt and rails and other contact areas with mil comm grease and/or CLP. is this rifle recommended to be ran wet like ARs?

I have been running mine with a few drops of M-pro7 spread on the bolt carrier and rails and it runs like a champ. I used CLP when I first got it with the same application and it ran well with that too. So I don't think you need to drench the action.

I would always run pistons dry. You don't want carbon sticking to the oils...dry, the gasses keep everything cleaner.
