For over two years, I've been using the 3.1mm wide FS that came with the pistol, just replaced the red fiber with a green one to help my ageing eyes. I would like to try a narrower FS, but have to keep it IPSC Production-legal. What are my options? I'm not sure if every sight I see on CZ Custom will meet IPSC requirements, I thought I could only use sights manufactured by CZ. The have a 2.75mm wide FS available.

Another question: I tried to measure the FS height using a caliper, but without removing the sight, and came up with a reading of 5mm. Is that even possible? On CZ site, the shortest sight I can see is 5.25mm. And on CZ Custom, the shortest sight is 5.5mm in either 2.75mm or 3.1mm widths.

TIA.

When I was considering replacing the front sight on my Shadow I figured out that front sight height measurements include the base of the front sight. So measure from its very bottom to very top.

I did measure from the cut in the slide (not from the slide top) to the top of the sight, and came up with 5mm, which seems to be a bit short.

Are you measuring to the top of the sight or to the centre of the dot? I would suggest putting a tongue drepressor (or something flat) over the front sight and measuring from the base to the bottom of the depressor to get a more accurate reading.

I did measure from top of the sight. The tongue depressor is a good idea, will try it tonight, thanks.

If the Canadian is the same as the regular shadow then it should be 5.5.
Have you seen the Dawson precision front sight calculator?? I just did the math from the factory 5.5 and it got me real close. I replaced mine with a narrow one. Took a bit to get used to it. I found the green small fiber to be less bright than the small red fiber.

Thanks for that, I will re-measure & try the calculator. I feel that a wider front sight doesn't give me good accuracy on longer shots. As for the fiber color, I can barely see red (old age), so I switched to green a couple of years ago.

Update: I did re-measure the best I could, it is pretty close to 5.5mm, so that's the height I'm ordering. Thanks for helping!
