Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it is legal to ship a pistol clip only from the USA into Canada without any concern using Parcel Post or ? What is the best way to do this ? .. Thanks :bangHead:

Do you mean clips for a C96, or are you meaning magazine for modern pistols? Magazines are ITAR controlled, you need a licence and to export from US to Canada. I'm not sure if clips are ITAR controlled or not.

Depending on exactly what you are looking for, you could try asking Northern Republic Magazine(NR Magazine here on the forums) or IRunGuns, they might be able to get it for you.

One alternative to look into is that sometimes different pistols are compatable with the magazines from other ones, and sometimes that makes it very easy to find one that works for you.

In the future, it really helps to explain exactly what you're looking for, such as "a magazine for a .22 Ruger Buckmark", because then you might get a quick answer that someone on here has one for sale right now.

no its not confusing. A magazine encloses cartridges, internally like in a Winchester lever action, or they are removable like in a modern semi auto pistol. A clip is something that helps load single cartridges into a magazine.

Palidin, if you order from companies that already have the export permits in place then you can buy your magazines and they will ship them by post to your house. It's only illegal to ship out of the US if the person or company does not get the proper paper work done.

So if you order your magazines from Brownells, Midway or similar you're OK. So check with the outfit where you want to buy the magazine and see if they are OK with mailing them to Canada.

If you're looking at going over the border yourself to buy and return with the magazine then NO! You'd be subject to the ITAR rules of the US and risk legal action if they catch you trying to leave the country with the items. Why? Because YOU don't have the export permits. So if you order by mail even if you usually have the stuff shipped to a border location and then run down and bring it back don't do that in this case. Once you have it in your hands YOU and not the original seller become the exporting party.

Regular pistols and rifles, .22 or otherwise, do not use a clip. They use a magazine. Some, but not all, firearms parts(mags are parts. So are stocks and grips) are restricted for export by the U.S. government. So mentioning what firearm the mag is for, helps.
Usually not worth the fuss to bring .22 mags across the border though. Gets the civil servants at Customs excited.
