Hi, the SIG website lists two available 9mm available for the P226 Tactical Operations:

1. E26R-9-TACOPS

2. 226R-9-TACOPS

What is the difference between these two models?

Anyway, Questar in Canada sells this version with a 20 round mag pinned to 10.

I would prefer a stand alone 10 round mag. I do not like the idea of pinned magazines.

Any suggestions?

On a side note, is there a fibre optic rear sight available for the P226? I know it comes with a fibre optic front sight :)

Thank you,

TDM

I don't remember precisely but to my memory the E26R-9... version includes High cap mags while the 226R-9... version comes with 10 rounders (For restricted states and Canada).

Pinned mag are for most more desireable. I believe the tac ops has some longer "magwell" grips; inserting regular mags will be a pain (if you don't change the grips for regular length). IMO, you can probably try to deal with the dealer to exchange your high cap pinned for more 10 rounders mags or they would probably sell for a good price on EE (So you can fund more mags and grips).

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Unfortunately, the handgun just sounds like to much of a hassle for me. It is unfortunate that SIG does not create a SIG Sauer P226 IPSC version, similar to but better than the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow!

Anyway, I guess I will have to go CZ, I feel let down by the P226, they are not staying up to date with their handguns, but I know they could and should if SIG chose to do it !!

Cordially,

TDM

The difference is the grips, the E26R has the E2 grips. And I wouldn't worry about pinned mags there is nothing wrong with them or if you really dont wnat them just call them and ask for factory 10 rnd ones.

I think SIG is more into 'service' than 'competition' pistols. They do have the X-Five line but they're really not in the CZ Shadow price range. I believe they issued a P226 USPSA version a few years back but I don't know if it's still in production.
